Who We Are
We bring together owners and enthusiasts who share a genuine interest in the marque and a commitment to preserving the Saab community in this state.
If you own a Saab or simply have a soft spot for them, get in touch through the website or come along to an event and meet the group.
Objectives
To promote and foster friendship among Saab car owners and encourage new members to join the club.
To encourage pride, ownership and technical knowledge of Saab cars and improve the standard of driving the cars we love.
To establish and maintain a motor vehicle register for vehicles eligible for the Special Interest Vehicle Scheme (SIV) in accordance with TMR guidelines.

Our History
The original (and unrelated) Queensland Branch of the Saab Car Club of Australia was formed in 2001.
Queensland has always faced a challenge the southern states do not - a far more dispersed population. As Saab sales slowed through the late 1990s and fell away after 2000, sustaining a viable committee and membership became increasingly difficult. The collapse of Saab Automobile in 2011 removed what remained of the factory support independent clubs relied on, and Queensland's original Saab club eventually dissolved in the years that followed.
The marque never lost its following here. In 2010, founding Secretary Lars Christer Sälle and his wife, Treasurer Christina Chan, organised the Brisbane leg of the Save Saab convoy - part of a worldwide effort to keep the brand alive as General Motors moved to wind it down. Thirty-three cars took part, with support from Saab brand centres, independent workshops and the clubs themselves.
In 2013 the pair founded the Australian Saab Enthusiasts Facebook group, giving scattered owners somewhere to gather.
Queensland Saab Club Inc. carries that purpose forward: a home for the marque in this state, properly incorporated and built to last.
Our Obligation to Members
Queensland Saab Club Inc. is an incorporated association registered in 2026 with the Queensland Office of Fair Trading under the Associations Incorporation Act 1981 (Qld).
Our association details can be verified at the Queensland Office of Fair Trading website. Our organisation number is IA4975473.
We are a separate and independent organisation with no connection to any other unincorporated group or social media group using the name Queensland Saab Club or similar. Being a "member" of a Facebook group does not offer the same protections as membership of an incorporated club. See the notice on unrelated entities.
As an incorporated association, we maintain:
- A Constitution and By-laws governing how the club operates
- Audited or verified financial statements presented to members each year
- A register of members maintained by our Secretary
Membership fees go directly into running the club - organising events, maintaining the website, coordinating technical workshops and supporting club infrastructure. Our financial records are open to scrutiny by members and the regulator.
